About Me

Cybelle Kaehler recently graduated from UC Irvine with degrees in Drama and Film and Media Studies, with a minor in digital filmmaking. Cybelle strives to tell meaningful stories centered on women and other marginalized groups, often focusing on social issues. She has directed and written several plays and short films, and has served in various crew positions in both film and theatre. At UCI, she was co-president of Brick Theatre Company, a student collective focused on LGBTQ+ works. She recently served as an assistant director and crew member of the New Swan Shakespeare Festival. A triplet and the youngest of five siblings, she grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada. In her free time she enjoys political volunteering, podcasting, radio DJing, songwriting, dancing, and playing Dungeons and Dragons.

Recent News!

April 24 - Cybelle launches a GoFundMe for "Restoration", a new queer 90 minute play coming to Hollywood Fringe Festival in June 2023!

 

January 31 - "Tombé" wins Best Screenplay and Award of Merit at the One Reeler Short Film Competition!

 

January 9 - Cybelle makes her professional directing debut with a staged reading of "The Oyster", a new 10 minute play at Playground-LA!

 

November 1 - "Lapsed" will stream online at the Ethos Film Awards!

 

October 17 - Cybelle started a directing apprenticeship at Playground-LA, a new play incubator that puts on staged readings of new short plays ever month.

October 2 - "Tombé" wins Best Student Film at the Los Angeles Cinema Festival of Hollywood

September 4 - Cybelle finishes a great season as assistant director and costume crew member at the New Swan Shakespeare Festival.
